CrimeSentences publishes source-backed observed sentencing information under the following standards.
- Sources, convictions, sentences, sentence allocation, and city connections are never invented or inferred beyond the source.
- Pending cases, charges, indictments, and pleas awaiting sentencing are not final outcomes.
- Every published observed range requires at least two independent completed prosecutions and two comparable target-offense final sentences.
- Aggregate multi-count terms are excluded from a target-offense range unless the source expressly allocates a term to that count.
- Federal and state/local outcomes remain separate.
- Statutory penalties remain separate from observed outcomes.
- Residence, arrest, court, prosecutor, county, and metro connections alone do not prove an exact-city offense.
- Primary and official sources are preferred; reliable reporting may be used when primary records are unavailable.
- Selected public cases are disclosed as a limited sample, not an average, typical result, or prediction.
- Material errors are corrected transparently and duplicate search intents are consolidated.
- Unnecessary personal information is not republished.
