Toledo Aggravated Robbery Sentences: Reported Case Outcomes
What sentences were imposed for aggravated robbery in Toledo? Two selected Ohio appellate decisions describe different sentence formats: Dominique Antonio Roberts received an indefinite aggravated-robbery term recorded as eight to twelve years, while Malik Daniel received a ten-year aggravated-robbery term. These are individual reported outcomes, not a comparable citywide eight-to-twelve-year sentencing range.
Two robbery judgments with different sentence formats
| Defendant and decision | Toledo conduct | Target count | Scope and disposition |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dominique Antonio Roberts — State v. Roberts, 2023-Ohio-142 | Apartment B, 1324 Ironwood Avenue, East Toledo (paragraph 4). | Aggravated robbery, R.C. 2911.01(A)(1): the sentencing entry recorded an eight-year minimum and twelve-year indefinite maximum (paragraphs 129–130). | A separate three-year firearm specification accompanied this count. Murder, burglary and other specifications also contributed to the overall judgment. The appellate court ordered a limited remand to correct the aggregate sentencing entry. |
| Malik Daniel — State v. Daniel, 2023-Ohio-2800 | The incident at 408 Kenilworth is described in paragraphs 11–20, including Toledo police responding to the address. | Ten years for aggravated robbery, Count 3 (paragraph 6). | This count ran consecutively to a ten-to-fifteen-year attempted-murder term and seventeen months for motor-vehicle theft. The appellate court affirmed the judgment. |
Why there is no combined numerical range
Roberts’s minimum and indefinite maximum are two parts of one defendant’s sentence, not two defendants’ outcomes. Daniel’s robbery term is reported separately as ten years. Combining these sentence formats into a single low/high figure would hide the distinction. The firearm specifications and the totals for other convictions are also excluded from any isolated robbery comparison.
The Roberts sentencing-entry correction
Paragraphs 129–134 of the January 18, 2023 decision discuss conflicting sentencing descriptions and require a nunc pro tunc entry addressing the consecutive aggregate range. This page describes that decision and does not claim to have verified a later corrected trial-court entry or exhaustion of all appeals. The aggregate calculation should not be substituted for the robbery count.
Other convictions in the Daniel case
The same prosecution also supports count-specific discussion of Toledo attempted-murder sentences and Toledo motor-vehicle-theft sentences. These are different conviction questions, not additional independent robbery cases.
These are selected reported cases, not all Toledo cases. They do not establish an average, a typical sentence, a statutory range, or a prediction. The figures describe sentences imposed, not time actually served. Read the case-selection methodology, editorial standards, and Toledo sentencing hub.
